South Korean singer The One 郑淳元 has released his first Chinese album titled Because of You 因为有你.
The singer who is already well-known in Korea shot to fame in China after taking part in the popular variety show, I Am A Singer Season 3 (you can read about the entire season here). Hailed as the Brian McKnight of Korea, The One’s amazing vocal range and alluring tone quickly won him many Chinese fans in the competition meant for professional singers.
The One will cover some popular Chinese songs in this album like Leslie Cheung’s “I Am What I Am” and Faye Wong’s “I’m Willing”. The One shared that he came to know about Leslie Cheung after he watched the movie “A Chinese Ghost Story 倩女幽魂” and became a big fan ever since. “I Am What I Am” is his tribute to the late singer who committed suicide in 2003. This is definitely one of the rare Chinese music album that we look forward to.
At a recent press conference in Beijing, The One also shared that he is currently learning the Chinese language and plans to buy a house in the country.
