Here’s our list of must-watch movies for the month of September 2016.

The Secret Life of Pets

When Max’s owner adopts a new dog, Duke, into her home, the two dogs starts squabbling to vie for their owner’s affection. In one of their arguments, both dogs lost their collars when falling into an alley and are captured by animal control. Snowball, a gung-ho rabbit then led ‘The Flushed Pets’, a gang of abandoned house pets, on a rescue mission for Max and Duke.

The Secret Life of Pets is the work of Illumination Entertainment, the creative team behind the creation of the “Despicable Me” series. Many reviewers are calling this animated movie the “Toy Story” for pets, which can be seen as a compliment as well as saying that the concept lacks originality. Regardless of what the reviewers say, these cute cuddly pets will still be well liked by kids.

Sully

Based on the autobiography Highest Duty by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, the story is about how Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger managed to land an airplane on Hudson River after losing both engines three minutes from take-off, saving 155 lives as a result. Dubbed as the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’, the heroic Captain Sully’s personal life was soon invaded by the media and investigators who force him to put his his career, reputation and family on the line. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Sullenberger, with Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney and Anna Gunn.

Morgan

Morgan (Anya Taylor-Joy) is a genetically engineered super-human child who began walking and talking one month after being created. When Morgan attacks one of her handlers, Lee Weather (Kate Mara), a corporate troubleshooter is sent to the top-secret facility to evaluate and assess the problem. The situation intensifies and staff members are placed in a lockdown mode when Morgan broke free and turned violent.

In order to launch his landing operation on Incheon, he sends a small squad of soldiers on a secret mission behind North Korean lines to carry out a dangerous reconnaissance operation.

The Magnificent Seven

Director Antoine Fuqua reunites with his “Training Day” leads Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, and recruits Chris Pratt and Byung-hun Lee to make up the new seven for this classical western.

Deepwater Horizon

Deepwater Horizon is a biographical disaster thriller-drama based on the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion 40 miles off the coast of Louisiana. The explosion and oil spill caused what is considered the largest environmental disaster in the United States and killed 11 workers.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Based on a New York Times best seller by American author Ransom Riggs, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children tells the tale of a boy who, after the mysterious death of his grandfather, travels to an abandoned orphanage helmed by the Miss Peregrine. Tasked by the headmistress to protect the Peculiar Children, the boy have to defend them from evil humanoid creatures called Hollowgasts and Wights unleashed by the mysterious Mr. Barron.
