To the surprise of many, actress Fan Bing Bing (范冰冰) continues her winning streak by coming in the first place again on the Forbes China Celebrity 2015 list, followed by singer Jay Chou (周杰伦) in second place and Nicloas Tse (谢霆锋) in third.
It was said that Fan’s role in the China period drama ‘The Last Empress’ (武則天) was what got her the accolade this year. The Last Empress of China caused quite a stir when it was aired in China due to the cleavage-revealing clothes worn by the actresses, so much so that the show was taken off air temporarily. When reinstated, the series was edited in such a way, it showed only the heads of the actresses. You can imagine what a joke that was.
News of Jay Chou’s fantasy wedding with model Hannah Quinlivan last year dominated the news surrounding the Taiwanese singer, who made it second to the Forbes China Celebrity list this year. All good news for the dad-to-be who is currently busy with his new film ‘10,000 Miles’ (一萬公里的約定).
Nicolas Tse received no less love from the media when rumours of him getting back with Mandopop queen Faye Wong (王菲) broke last year. Faye Wong, herself, made it to the 73th place on the list.
Other celebrities who made it to the list include Jackie Chan (成龙, 4th place) Eason Chan (陈奕迅, 10th place) G.E.M. (邓紫棋, 11th place), Lee Hom (王力宏, 24th place), Chow Yun-Fat (周润发, 29th place) and Stephen Chow (周星馳, 97th place).
A few newbies on the list are getting lots of attention. Actor William Chan (陈伟霆) and actor/ singer Li Yi Feng (李易峰), are touted to be some up and coming names to make it big in showbiz. William Chan role as Ling Yue (陵越) in Swords of Legend (古剑奇谭) propelled him to fame.
