The third installment of Lee Tim-Sing’s (李添勝) Rosy Business (巾幗梟雄),’No Reserve’ (巾幗梟雄之諜血長天) is out on myTV SUPER. The much anticipated Hong Kong drama series was shot in 2013 but took 3 years before its release – reportedly due to its many violent scenes.

Set in World War II, No Reserve is said to be peppered with many violent scenes — including rape and other hardcore crimes. The story line revolves around Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), a mentally unstable secret agent who was sexually abused when he was a child. Edwin Siu’s role is played by Wayne Lai (黎耀祥).

Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) replaces Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) as the female lead in No Reserve. In the series, Wu was raped several times when carrying out her job as a spy.

During a press conference, Lai acknowledges the adult themes in the series but says that the show is not as violent as it’s made up to be.

“You know there’s a limit to how far a TV show would go. There are some rape scenes as well as scenes featuring the abusive actions of the Japanese soldiers. However, some of these violent happenings are conveyed by way of narration rather than acted out in the series.”

Lai further reassures viewers by saying that the producers of the show will not expect the cast to do anything out of line for a TV series.
