To a lot of people, eating healthy means having a salad, skipping the satisfying carbs like rice or noodles. Well, they are probably right. If price and taste don’t matter, salads are a great way to introduce a few servings of vegetables and fruit to your diet. Kitchen by Food Rebel, a café-cum-bistro hopes to take healthy eating to the next level by offering a menu of great tasting salads and meals.
A collaboration between Owner and Health Coach, Elika Mather and Head Chef Yuliya Tyschenko, meals at Kitchen by Food Rebel are all cooked from scratch, including sauces and salad dressings. Their focus on food quality, taste and nutrition ensures that meals are nutrient-dense and provides the body with a measured balance of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Their menu also clearly indicates which meals are dairy free, gluten free, nut free and whether it is suitable for vegan or vegetarian.
Located at Telok Ayer area, the cafe is not just about salads. They also serves smoothies, snacks and cakes that are gluten, dairy and sugar free. Other than going down to the cafe, meals can also be ordered through Deliveroo.
The 40-seater cafe was born out of owner Elika’s frustration with the lack of healthy food options in Singapore. And we agree with her. When we started experimenting with the Paleo diet a while back, we too had a hard time looking for places to eat on days when we were lazy to prepare our meals. Although the prices here are not cheap due to the quality ingredients, Kitchen by Food Rebel is a good place to consider the next time you want a less guilty meal.
