The décor of newly opened Oh My Tian café is all fun and fancy — but does the café take its food seriously? Let’s find out!
Located in Whampoa West, Oh My Tian specialises in fresh bakes and desserts. The signature ‘Whoaflles’ (from $5.50), done just right with a cripsy outside, was quite a treat. Pair the waffle with a choice of either a single or double scoop of creamy ice cream and a generous drizzle of salted caramel, maple or espresso butterscotch sauce.
Another crowd pleaser was the FaGuo Toast, consisting of two thick pieces of french toast, banana slices, ham slices to add a savoury note, fresh cream and sweet maple sauce. Very satisfying indeed.
On the other hand, the donut burger ($13) was just average. It came with a choice of chicken or beef patty, topped with mushroom, hashbrown, caramelised onions and cheese. Another dish containing hasbrown is the hashbrown pizza. But the dish, which uses hashbrown as a base and topped with cheese and sliced sausges, was a flop. It was soggy from all the toppings.
Oh My Tian’s décor is definitely worth a mention. Everything from the carousel booth seats and white-and-blue striped candy cart brings to mind the hypnotic world of a fairy tale carnival.
Overall, there are some hits and misses at Oh My Tian. Having said that, the cafe is relatively new, so perhaps we should give it a few more months to sort out its offering — it is still rolling out new dishes– and get things right.
