Taiwanese company ASUS showcased its latest range of premium products that include ultrabooks, digital tablets and smartwatches at Zenvolution, a key launch event for the brand in Singapore. Calling this range their third generation lineup, ASUS incorporated the learnings from its previous two generations to bring together more computing power and better design to the masses.
Here are the key highlights of the products launched at the event:
ASUS ZenBook 3
The Zenbook series is known for its razor-thin profile and lightweight. For the latest iteration, ASUS shaves the ultrabook to a thin 11.9mm and just under 1 kg, tipping the scales at only 910g. The new Zenbook 3 looks stunning with its gold edge accents, signature tapered edges and spun-metal finishing on the lid. The Zenbook 3 also delivers an impressive performance under the lid. It runs on the 7th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIE SSD and revolutionary 0.3mm thin cooling system where it dissipates heat through hidden vents in the hinge.
The ZenBook 3 is available in 3 colours, Rose Gold, Royal Blue and Quartz Grey and the base model is priced at S$1,998. You can purchase the Zenbook 3 from 22 October 2016 onwards at all ASUS brand stores and authorised retailers.
ASUS Transformer 3 Pro
Remember the Transformer? Not the Autobots or Decepticons but 2-in-1 detachable notebook from ASUS. A competent tablet and laptop running on 7th generation Intel Core processors, the Transformer 3 Pro also features an innovative hinge worthy of the ‘Transformer’ namesake, allowing you to adjust a range of angles for comfortable viewing or typing.
We were most impressed with the 12.6-inch touchscreen that has a 3K (2880 x 1920) resolution. The resolution was so good that we thought that the desktop was a printed photo when we were trying it out with it at the event. The Transformer 3 Pro also comes with a lot of ports like the HDMI, MicroSD card reader, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3 support for connectivity.
Other notable features of the Transformer 3 Pro includes a dual front-facing speakers featuring “smart amplifier” technology that boosts loudness by 350% compared to speakers of similar size and power, a detachable backlit Transformer Cover Keyboard and a 13 megapixel rear camera.
Also available from 22 October 2016, the top model with Core i7 processor is priced at S$2,598 and will come with the Transformer Cover keyboard and ASUS Pen.
ASUS ZenWatch 3
It looks like ASUS has not given up on the smartwatch. The ZenWatch 3 that works with iOS and Android devices is crafted from high quality stainless steel and has a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 400 x 400 resolution. We tried out a few watch faces and it looks really good on the 286ppi pixel density screen.
Compared to previous generation of ZenWatch, the ZenWatch 3 powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor can now last up to two days on a full charge. The watch also comes with a rating of IP67 water resistance, making it safe for sweaty workouts and dancing in the rain.
Complete with a Italian leather watch strap, the ZenWatch 3 will be available in November at $369 at all ASUS Brand Stores and authorised retailers.
To try out the latest ASUS products, you can head down to the ASUS Zenvolution Roadshow from 14 to 16 October 2016 at Suntec City, North Atrium Tower 2.
