New IKEA desk lets you charge smartphones and tablets wirelessly

    by -

Messy charging cables may soon be a thing of the past with IKEA’s new wireless charging furniture and appliances.

IKEA will be collaborating with wireless power standard Qi, to offer a range of lamps, bedside tables and desks that supports wireless or induction charging starting mid-April. Built into the selected furniture pieces, the charging pad allows users to power up their smartphones and tablets by simply placing them on the furniture marked with a ‘+’ sign.

Those living in Europe and North America will be the first to enjoy this offering, with prices starting from £30. According to Phandroid, a wider global rollout (Asia, please) of the IKEA wireless charging furnishing can be expected later on. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the new range will come soon enough.
